For candidates who are already certified as PADI Divemasters and intend to to the PADI IDC training, there has been some changes to the curriculum.

The online course focuses on preparing you to function as a PADI Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor by introducing you to the complete PADI System. The course focuses your ability to use all components of the system as a professional dive educator.
Saving time and allows you to study at your own pace. (extra cost)

Extra advantage is that you will start 3 days later than our ‘Live delivery’ PADI IDC.
“Live Delivery” PADI IDC with us will always start on a Friday.
For those who choose the online option the PADI IDC can start three days later.
Giving you the option to arrive later and spend less time and money on accommodations in Playa del Carmen.
There is an additional charge for this PADI IDC e-learning option, that delivers convenience and value enhancement to the IDC.  This is Paid to PADI directly.

The PADI instructor development course includes two parts:
1) PADI assistant instructor course
2) PADI open water scuba instructor course.

Attending both parts we call it the "full PADI IDC training".

After completing your PADI IDC, you will be examined by a PADI examiner over a period of two days, which is called the PADI Instructor Examination (PADI I.E.).

There are 2 extra modules to extend this training:
1) PADI IDC preparation course (2 days and scheduled right before PADI IDC course. (This is FREE and part of our IDC course)
2) PADI EFR instructor course  ( 2 days and mandatory during the IDC course (extra charge)

PADI Assistant Instructor

The PADI Assistant Instructor course is the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (PADI IDC). You'll not only gain additional experience as a PADI Professional but You'll also start learning the PADI System of diver education. You can act as an instructional scuba assistant and assume limited teaching responsibilities. We run this program over a period of four days.

what you learn

You build upon your abilities to organize and supervise scuba diving activities, while concentrating on developing teaching skills. You will learn how to prepare and deliver a knowledge development, confined and open water presentations.

pre-requisites:

You must

  • Be certified as a PADI Divemaster or equivalent.
  • Be a certified diver for at least 6 months.
  • Have 60 logged dives that include experience in night, deep and navigation diving to participate in the PADI Instructor Development Course. You’ll need 100 logged dives to take the Instructor Exams
  • Have CPR and First Aid training within the last 24 months.
  • Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months
  • Be at least 18 years old

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program is your final step in the quest to become a PADI Instructor. During the OWSI portion of the PADI IDC, You'll learn to use and adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs. Comprehensive training, supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers. The OWSI takes 10 days including the EFRI.

During the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program , you'll learn the complete PADI System of diver education, standards and procedures, effective academic teaching presentations, teaching in confined water, conducting open water training dives and additional related topics. This is the real deal!

PADI IDC cross-over

For instructors from other certifying agency’s who would like to join the PADI family. As a certified instructor you will need to attend the OWSI portion of the IDC, it is however highly recommended to follow the full IDC with us (at no extra cost).

  • Be a current instructor in good standing (eligible to renew) with another recreational diving training organisation for at least six months
